Open Access Information and Policy
All manuscripts published by IES are made available online worldwide under an open access Creative Commons CC BY 4.0 license, which means:
- Everyone has free and unlimited access to all journals published by IES.
- Everyone is free to reuse all published materials as long as proper citation is given. This condition ensures maximum use and exposure of a work, and authors receive proper credit.
- Open access publication fees are supported by authors or the institutions where the authors are affiliated with.
Advantages of Open Access for Authors
Open access manuscripts are free to be downloaded and read by prospective readers and therefore have generally higher exposure than non-open access manuscripts. Owing to the copyright license, open access manuscripts are also more likely to appear in search engines and indexing databases.
IES guarantees the return of the first review outcomes to authors in 4–6 weeks. Our online-only publication ensures that all accepted manuscripts are published rapidly after accepting the final version of manuscripts from authors.
The APC of IES is only a fraction of the average income per manuscript earned by traditional, subscription-based publishers. Moreover, IES charges the same APC irrespective of manuscript length, because we believe in high-quality and complete manuscripts that are not unnecessarily split into multiple, separate manuscripts due to limitation on paper length.
